Want to know one of the best things about being a member of the Los Angeles Philharmonic? Going on tour!

Seeing the most inspiring cities in the world, five-star hotels, fancy airplanes...and every last detail taken care of. If you get the opportunity to tour with us, I highly recommend it.

And if you just thought, “Yeah, right...I won’t be taking trips like that in my lifetime...I’m not in a ‘fancy’ orchestra”, I’d like to tell you about an important epiphany in my life.

The realization is about my favorite hotel–the Rosewood in London.

I know about it because it’s where the LA Phil always stays when we play at the Barbican.

The place is amazing. Dark wooden hallways, fanciful sculptures in the hallways, cozy couches at every turn, and bowls of chocolate treats at every landing.

It’s magical!

The last time I was there, I thought, “I have got to take my kids here someday.” But then I came back to “reality”–I wouldn’t dream of taking my family on an LA Phil tour.

After all, it’s work, not vacation. So I put that thought away. Nice idea, but not happening.

You could argue that the LA Phil might never stay in the Rosewood at all, with the way things are looking.

But here’s the thing–why does taking my kids to my favorite hotel have to have ANYTHING to do with my job? Why can’t I just take my kids to an amazing hotel?

Of course, there are lots of reasons–costs and schedules and passports and all the things.

But I don’t have to wait for the planets to align to enjoy fun things. I can make them happen on my own.

In fact, if I let myself be more than just an LA Phil musician, I have the power to make a LOT of things happen in my life.

How do I do this? How can YOU do this?

Look around you and notice all of the knowledge, the skills, and the insights you have because of what you’ve done with your life.

You are not just the sum of your practice room hours. You are a creative force—so create something.

Need some guidance? Want to bounce an idea off of someone?

Let’s connect. My schedule is open to you for the next few weeks, no strings attached.

If you are an orchestra musician I ESPECIALLY want to talk to you...there are a lot of possibilities sitting right in front of you, even if it doesn’t feel that way right now.

You can check my schedule right here for a 30-45 minute call.

If you aren’t sure what you are going to do with yourself for the next 8-12 months, you at least owe yourself a conversation. Let’s talk.

In the meantime, enjoy these photos from my last trip to the Rosewood...and enjoy the free chocolate!

Chris
